Bulldogs stalwart Morris to join Sharks

10 Июль 2018 10:56

Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed long-serving centre Josh Morris will join NRL rivals Cronulla Sharks on a two-year deal.

Morris has scored 100 tries in 208 games for the Bulldogs since arriving at Belmore in 2009.

The 31-year-old stalwart will move on at the end of the season, striking another blow to Bulldogs fans following the mid-season departures of Aaron Woods - who also joined the Sharks - and Moses Mbye.

Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill said: "Josh has been an outstanding servant to the Bulldogs over a 10-year career and is a big part of our history during that period.

"The club made him an extremely competitive offer to stay, but he has decided to take up a contract with the Sharks. We are disappointed to see him leave but we understand that he has done what he thinks is right at this stage of his career.

"We look forward to seeing him finish this season strongly with the club and leaving with some great memories."

Although Morris' exit had been expected, Bulldogs prop Aiden Tolman says it is still hard to take as the Bulldogs strive to comply with the salary cap.

"It is a shock when it happens," Tolman said.

"It's happened all too often this year. That's just the way it is over the past month we have lost three players. Whilst it doesn't get any easier to take, it is difficult, it probably needed to happen."
