Scotland dispatch Italy at Murrayfield

9 Февраль 2013 18:03

The home side were full of running from the outset and looked like a completely different side to the one that was beaten resoundingly by England last weekend.

The Scots raced to 13-0 lead thanks to a Tim Visser try and the boot of Grieg Laidlaw and went into the half-time break up 13-3 after Luciano Orquera converted a penalty to give Italy a glimmer of hope.

However, that glimmer well and truly disappeared just minutes into the second half, when Matt Scott scored a converted try before Stuart Hogg scored a spectacular 80-metre interception try to the delight of the Murrayfield crowd.

Sean Lamont compounded Italy's misery when he crossed to make it 34-3, with Alessandro Zanni managing to score a consolation try for the visitors late in the day.

Wales ended an eight-match losing streak when they accounted for France 16-6 at the Stade de France.

George North crossed for a late try to seal the drought-breaking victory for the visitors - their first triumph since beating Les Bleus to claim the Grand Slam in last year's Six Nations.
