8 teams, each plays the others once - for a total of 7 games each, over 7 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. lesser number of red cards received; 6. lesser number of yellow cards received; 7. draw.



Qualification for the Championship Final:

1 place: qualifies for the Championship Final





2nd Phase (Copa Rio Grande do Norte):

Format:

8 teams, each plays the others once - with hostings reversed compared to the 1st Phase - for a total of 7 games each, over 7 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. lesser number of red cards received; 6. lesser number of yellow cards received; 7. draw.



Qualification for the Championship Final:

1 place: qualifies for the Championship Final



Summary Table:

Teams' records from the 1st Phase and 2nd Phase are summed (a total of 14 games each) and a Summary Table is compiled.



Summary Table order:

1. points won; 2. games won; 3. total goal difference; 4. total goals scored; 5. lesser number of red cards received; 6. lesser number of yellow cards received; 7. draw.



Relegation from the league:

8 place in the Summary Table: relegated to Segunda Divisão



Promotion to the league:

1 team from Segunda Divisão





Championship Final:

Format:

2 teams contest the Potiguar champion in a knockout format.

If one team wins both the 1st Phase and the 2nd Phase, then it is automatically declared Potiguar champion and no Championship Final is played.



Final:

The two teams meet each other with the winner becoming Potiguar champion.

Winner is decided over two legs.

The team with higher Summary Table placing hosts the second leg.



Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:

1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. penalties.



Qualification for Copa do Brasil:

champion: qualifies for Copa do Brasil

vice champion: qualifies for Copa do Brasil



Qualification for Copa do Nordeste:

champion: qualifies for Copa do Nordeste



Qualification for Serie D:

the state of Rio Grande do Norte has 1 spot in the Serie D, which can be allocated to any club that isn't already participating in Serie A, Serie B, Serie C or Serie D.
